ANNUAL
FUND DRIVE
The
Annual Fund Drive
is the major source of revenue from a variety of individuals who
have been connected with Mater Dei. It provides the individual
the opportunity to make a contribution to any of four areas:
Education Fund
Student Tuition Assistance
Capital Improvements
Foundation
(for
the
Endowment)
It invites individuals to see if their employer makes “Matching
Gift” contributions and asks if they have remembered the
Foundation in their will.
The Annual Fund Drive (AFD) consists of a renewal letter to last
year’s donors, a general letter to those who did not make a
donation, the Phone-a-thon, a LYBUNT letter (Last Year But Not
This), a proof letter and the Annual Report.
The Annual Report is distributed in August and is an opportunity
for the school to express its gratitude to all those alumni,
parents, friends, faculty and students who have helped to make
the past year as successful as it could be. The listing of all
who impacted Mater Dei during the past year is a complex task
and every effort is taken to include all who have contributed.

Funding for Mater Dei High School is mainly provided from three
sources: tuition, fund raising and parish / Diocesan
support. 62.27% of
the budget is derived from tuition. 19.73% is from fund raising
and the remaining 18% from parish and Diocesan support.
Current tuition for the 2010-2011 school year is $4,140.00,
still the most affordable cost in the state of Illinois and the
metro-east area.
The 2008-2009 National Secondary school median freshman tuition
was $8,182 which is approximately 80% of actual national average cost per pupil
of $10,228 (our cost per student in 2008-2009 was $6,423.84).
Our 2009-2010 tuition of $3,966.00 represented only 46.4% of the
national median tuition and 37.1% of the national average cost. Our fund raising efforts in conjunction
with the Annual Fund Drive attempt to maintain this
affordability.
Any gift of any amount is acceptable. We are trying to raise
the percentage of Alumni participation. A Major Gift
to the Annual Fund is considered to be any amount of $250.00 or
more and contributors will be so recognized in the 2008-2009
Annual Report.
During the 2007-2008 school year the Office of Institutional
Advancement began working in the area of Major Gift
solicitation, Planned Giving opportunities
and creating an Historic Giving Society
("Chaplet of Mary") (dating
from 1989-1990 when computer records are first available). More
details concerning these programs will be posted as they become
available.
