The members of the Mater Dei community are excited to share the unique opportunities we offer our students and their families! Thus, we invite prospective families to attend the events listed below. Open House – Sunday, November 6, 2016, 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
For families with students enrolled in grades 5 – 8, our Open House provides an opportunity to receive a wealth of information regarding our spiritual, academic, and extracurricular programs; transportation; and tuition assistance; as well as a tour of our campus (led by Student Ambassadors).
Parent Information Night – Thursday, January 5, 2017, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
For parents of current 8th grade students, our Parent Information Night provides an opportunity to receive a wealth of information related to our spiritual, academic, and extracurricular programs, with an emphasis on academic courses for freshmen, the enrollment process, and scholarships and tuition assistance. Following a presentation by the administration, parents will attend presentations by each of our department chairs.
Placement Test (EXPLORE Test) – Saturday, January 14, 2017, 8:00 am to 11:00 am
The results of the EXPLORE test are utilized by our department chairs to determine course recommendations. The course recommendations are provided to families at the time of registration.
NOTE: At the following schools, the EXPLORE test will be administered to students: All Saints Academy, St. Paul, Albers, Aviston, Bartelso, Breese, Damiansville, Germantown, and St. Rose. Students enrolled in these schools are not required to retake the test at Mater Dei, as we will automatically receive the results. A student who is not enrolled in the previously listed schools, but completes the EXPLORE test at his/her school, may provide his/her results to Mater Dei (and not retake the test at Mater Dei).
Registration – Saturday, February 25, 2017, 8:00 am to 11:00 am
Prior to registration, parents will receive a packet of information and required forms. At registration, parents and students will meet with a teacher to discuss the course recommendations and to select courses. Parents may also obtain applications for scholarships and tuition assistance. Finally, students will complete a form to indicate their interest in marching band and athletics. (At a later date, students will receive information regarding applicable summer activities based on their selected interests.) Please note that the $50 non-refundable registration fee, due at the time of registration, is applied to the course and activities fee (due in August).
NOTE: Families who are unable to attend registration on February 25 may contact the office to sign-up for the alternate registration on Thursday, March 2, at 6:00 pm, or to schedule an appointment with Registrar Mrs. Deb Foote.
Freshman Welcome – Held in the Spring (date to be announced)
The Freshman Welcome provides an opportunity for registered students and their families to celebrate joining the Mater Dei family and to meet their future classmates. Welcoming in nature, the evening includes an introduction of the students, a speech from the Student Council president, and the distribution of information related to preparing for the new school year, including a supply list, a list of Parent Ambassadors (to contact for information), and a calendar of summer activities for marching band and fall athletics.
