On Saturday, February 2, Mater Dei Catholic High School hosted its annual Junior High Scholar Bowl Tournament. Twenty-nine teams from around the area competed in pool play in the morning for the chance to advance to elimination rounds in the afternoon. Immaculate Conception defeated Carriel Junior High in the Championship, while Germantown defeated Edward A. Fulton in the third place game. Aviston won the Consolation Bracket with a victory over Holy Trinity.

The tournament was put on thanks to the volunteer efforts of many people including Mater Dei junior and senior scholar bowl members and friends of the program who served as moderators, freshman and sophomore team members and other student volunteers, who ran the rooms and kept score, the Mater Dei Student Council, who served concessions throughout the day, and Breese Hardee’s, who sponsor the trophies.
