Mater Dei Catholic High School’s annual spring musical, Disney’s High School Musical, takes the stage at 7:00 pm March 31 and April 1, and at 2:00 pm April 2. Based on the high energy Disney classic made-for-television movie of the same name, this musical is sure to electrify audiences of all ages.
Disney’s High School Musical on Stage! centers on the blossoming relationship between Troy, a high school jock, and Gabriella, the new smart girl at school. They meet on a family vacation at a ski resort and become attracted to each other while singing in a karaoke competition. Rediscovering each other at school, their relationship and their surprise decision to audition together for the school show are thwarted by the school’s current leading lad Sharpay and Troy and Gabriella’s well-meaning friends. Finally, Gabriella and Troy find a way to be themselves and are rewarded with the lead roles in the school show. Full of catchy songs and peppy dance routines, Disney’s High School Musical is sure to have audiences dancing in the aisles.
High School Musical features over fifty actors, musicians, and technicians. Wil Rakers and Sophia Mondt, both from Aviston, portray the iconic Troy and Gabriella. Margo Lampe of Germantown and Ben Logullo of Greenville personify the thespian diva twins, Sharpay and Ryan Evans. Adding to the fun are featured performers seniors Zach Honer, Keegan Spirek, Maria Kreke, Will Harad, Anthony Lepore, John Hilmes, Sophia Lager, Leann Huegen, and Tori Voyles, and juniors Kendall Bowman and Suzy Cowgill. Rounding out the supporting cast are seniors Aften Richter, Kara Ratermann, Abby Krebs, Callista Becker, Hanna Voss, Alyssa Ripperda; juniors Kinsey Stockmann, Craig Gross, Quinn Cutler, Katya Hoffmann; sophomores Joseph Petermeyer, Ben Wilke, Abby Brandenburger, Morgan Berndsen, Alexis Patton, Taylor Foster, Caleb Horstmann, and Katelyn Daniels; and freshmen Anna Klostermann, Sophia Kenow, Hannah McSparin, Gabrielle Millikin, Matthew Fuehne, and Valerie Hund.
Orchestra members are Senior Amber Litteken, Juniors Reese Bradford, Calvin Hintz, and Henry Bergmann, and Freshmen Taylor Goring and Alyssa Becker. Ethan Beck, a guest musician, is featured on lead guitar.
The technical crew consists of Alex Mueth, Ethan Guillot, Savannah Wesselmann, Colby Litteken, John Hund, and Will Schleper. Make up expertise will be provided by Mackenzie Horstmann, Abby Kay, and Taylor Foster. The creative team of directors Donna Goetz and Jenny Mondt, technical director Alex Mueth, and orchestra director Blake Korte collaborated to turn this musical into the season’s must-see event.
Disney’s High School Musical is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). Tickets for the general public are available in the school office and must be paid for at the time of reservation. Price of tickets are $5 each.
