The administration and faculty are pleased to announce the Students of Quarter for the second quarter. Please join us in congratulating these students and their families!
Senior John Hund is the son of Alan and Veronica Hund of New Baden. Throughout his academic career, John has enrolled in the honors English classes. As a senior, in addition to English Composition 101 and 102, John is enrolled in Physics Honors. Outside the classroom, John is a four-year member of the fall play cast, Liturgical Planning Team, newspaper staff, Scholar Bowl team, and spring musical cast. For his achievements, John earned the Christian Service Award and the Liturgical Planning Team Award. Additionally, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout in December 2017. Finally, he is a server at St. George Catholic Church. Following graduation, John plans to study international journalism at Webster University.
Senior Rachell Maue is the daughter of Bob and Lynn Maue. Throughout her academic career, Rachell has enrolled in numerous honors English, mathematics, and science courses, including Calculus and English and Composition 101 and 102 as a senior. She also serves as a catechist for St. Boniface Catholic Church’s Youth Faith Formation program. For her academic achievements, Rachell earned recognition as an Illinois State Scholar and awards for Biology Honors, Chemistry Honors, English I and II, Pre-Calculus, and Theology I, II, and III. Outside the classroom, Rachell is a four-year member of the girls soccer team, concert band, indoor percussion ensemble, marching band, and Teens for Life; a three-year member of National Honor Society (current vice-president); and a first-year member of the Science Club (current president), newspaper staff, and Liturgical Music Group. Finally, Rachell is a member of Breese Youth Ministry and Luke 18 confirmation retreat teams, and a lector and eucharistic minister at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Following graduation, Rachell plans to attend Missouri State University to become a physician assistant.
Junior Sam AuBuchon is the son of Stephen and Kristi AuBuchon of Breese. Since his freshman year, Sam has enrolled in the honors English, mathematics, and science courses, including Algebra II & Trigonometry, American Literature Honors, AP American History, Chemistry Honors, and Composition Honors as a junior. Outside the classroom, he is a three-year member of the marching band; a two-year member of the concert band and National Honor Society; a first-year member of the newspaper staff, Science Club, Teens for Life, wind ensemble, and yearbook staff; and has participated in Quest retreats. He is also currently working to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. Finally, Sam is a server at St. Dominic Catholic Church.
Junior Erika Plage is the daughter of Carl and Karla Plage of Pocahontas. Since her freshman year, Erika has enrolled in college-preparatory courses, as well as art classes, including Advanced Ceramics and Advanced Drawing and Design as a junior. For her artistic achievements, Erika earned an award for Drawing and Design. Outside the classroom, Erika is a two-year member of Art Club, National Honor Society, Student Ambassadors, and Student Council. Finally, Erika serves as a volunteer at Camp Ondessonk in the summer.
Sophomore Matthew Sinnock is the son of Wayne and Jill Sinnock of Highland. Since his freshman year, Matthew has enrolled in the honors English courses. Currently, his courses include English II Honors and Algebra II & Trigonometry. For his academic achievements as a freshman, Matthew earned awards for American Government and Spanish II. Outside the classroom, Matthew is a two-year member of the boys basketball team and concert band, and a first-year member of Future Business Leaders of America. He is also a server and member of the youth organization at St. Paul Catholic Church.
Sophomore Meredith Innes is the daughter of Nancy and the late Bob Innes of Damiansville. Since her freshman year, Meredith has enrolled in the honors English, mathematics, and science courses. Currently, her courses include Algebra II & Trigonometry, Biology Honors, English II Honors, Geometry Honors, and Spanish II Honors. Outside the classroom, Meredith is a two-year member of the girls basketball team, girls golf team, Future Business Leaders of America, and Teens for Life; and a first-year member of the girls soccer team. She also serves as the sophomore class treasurer. Finally, Meredith is a server and member of Youth Ministry at St. Damian Catholic Church.
Freshman Alex Brandenburger is the son of Ivan and Melanie Brandenburger of Belleville. In his first year at Mater Dei, Alex is enrolled in Algebra I Honors, English I Honors, and Physical Science Honors. Outside the classroom, he is a member of the chorus, concert band, indoor percussion ensemble, marching band, and Scholar Bowl team. Additionally, he was a cast member for the fall play and is a tech crew member for the spring musical. Finally, Alex is a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church.
Freshman Jordyn Muscarello is the daughter of Dominic and Lynn Muscarello of Breese. Currently, Jordyn’s courses include Geometry and Spanish II, both sophomore level courses, as well as English II Honors and Physical Science Honors. Outside the classroom, she is a member of the chorus, concert band, Liturgical Music Group, marching band, spring musical cast, Teens for Life, and girls basketball team. She plans to join the girls soccer team in the spring. Finally, Jordyn is a member of Breese Youth Ministry, a Vacation Bible School volunteer, and a server and lector at St. Dominic Catholic Church.
