Senior Mitchell Pollmann is the son of Jim and Angie Pollmann of Carlyle. Throughout his academic career, Mitchell has enrolled in college-preparatory courses, including English Composition 101 and 102 as a senior. For his academic achievements, he received an award for Accounting Principles. Outside the classroom, Mitchell volunteered at the freshman lock-in and as the driver of the senior homecoming float. Finally, he is a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. Following graduation, Mitchell plans to study animal science at Kaskaskia College.
Senior Angie Carey is the daughter of Lisa Carey of Pocahontas. Throughout her academic career, Angie has enrolled in all the honors English, mathematics, and science courses, including Calculus, English Composition 101 and 102, and Physics Honors as a senior. For her academic achievements, she earned recognition as an Illinois State Scholar. Outside the classroom, Angie is a four-year member of marching band, for which she serves as the drum major, and pep band; a three-year member of National Honor Society; a two-year member of wind ensemble; and a first-year member of Peer Helpers. Additionally, she volunteered at the freshman lock-in. For her achievements in band, Angie received the Outstanding Junior Award. Finally, she is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Following graduation, Angie plans to study biomedical engineering at St. Louis University.
Junior Jun Moon is the son of Sungtae Moon and Moonjung Kim of South Korea. His host parents are Jim and Donna Goetz of New Baden. Since his freshman year, Jun has enrolled in college-preparatory courses, including Advanced Placement American History, Chemistry Honors, and Pre-Calculus as a junior. Outside the classroom, Jun is a two-year member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and a first-year member of Scholar Bowl, Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE), and the yearbook staff. He also serves as the junior class vice president. As a member of FBLA, Jun earned recognition at both the Southwestern Area FBLA Conference (first place in Computer Applications his sophomore year and second place in Computer Problem Solving his junior year) and the Illinois FBLA State Leadership Conference (fourth place in Spreadsheet Applications his sophomore year).
Junior Shannon Lampe is the daughter of James and Mary Lampe of Germantown. Since her freshman year, Shannon has enrolled in all the honors English and science courses. As a junior, in addition to American Literature Honors, Chemistry Honors, and Composition Honors, her courses include Pre-Calculus. For her academic achievements, she received awards for Geometry, Theology I, and Spanish II Honors. Outside the classroom, Shannon is a three-year member of the basketball, soccer, and volleyball teams, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and Teens for Life; a two-year member of National Honor Society and Student Ambassadors; and a first-year member of Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE). For her achievements in basketball, she received the Assist Award, Defensive Award, and Rebound Award her sophomore year. Finally, Shannon is a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.
Sophomore Blake Kloeckner is the son of Brian and Vicki Kloeckner of Breese. In both his freshman and sophomore year, Blake enrolled in the honors science courses. As a sophomore, in addition to Biology Honors, his courses include Algebra II and Trigonometry. For his academic achievements, Blake received awards for American Government, Physical Science Honors, and Spanish II. Outside the classroom, he is a two-year member of the golf team and a first-year member of Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering. Finally, Blake is a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, where he serves as a server, leader for Luke 18 confirmation retreats, and member of Breese Youth Ministry
Sophomore Allison Vonder Haar is the daughter of Carl and Lisa Vonder Haar of Carlyle. As a sophomore, her courses include Geometry Honors and Spanish II Honors. For her academic achievements, Allison received an award for Algebra I. Outside the classroom, she is a two-year member of Teens for Life and a first-year member of the fall play crew, Liturgical Music Group, spring musical crew, and yearbook staff. Finally, Allison is a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, where she serves as a lector and server, a member of St. Mary Catholic Church Youth Ministry, and a Youth Faith Formation teacher for St. Mary Catholic Church.
Freshman Gavynn Baer is the son of Erick and Lisa Baer of St. Rose. In his first year at Mater Dei, Gavynn’s courses include Geometry, which is traditionally a sophomore class, English I Honors, and Physical Science Honors. Outside the classroom, he is a member of chorus, the football team, and indoor percussion. Finally, Gavynn is a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, where he serves as a server and a member of Catholic Youth Ministry.
Freshman Caleigh Arentsen is the daughter of Ron and Leigh Ann Arentsen. In her first year at Mater Dei, Caleigh’s courses include Geometry, which is traditionally a sophomore class, English I Honors, and Physical Science Honors. Outside the classroom, she is a member of the cheerleading squad, chorus, concert band, fall play crew, indoor percussion, marching band, pep band, Scholar Bowl, Science Club, Spanish Club, and yearbook staff. In the community, she is a member of Aviston Aces 4H and 4H Federation. Finally, Caleigh is a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.
