The administration and faculty are pleased to announce the Students of the Quarter for the first quarter of the 2020-2021 academic year. These students were selected by the administration and faculty from the list of students who earned high honor roll or honor roll recognition. Senior Carter Ritzheimer, the son of Kyle and Michelle Ritzheimer of Breese. Throughout his academic career, Carter has enrolled in college-preparatory courses, including English Composition 101 and 102 as a senior. Outside the classroom, he is a four-year member of the baseball team, Pep Club, soccer team, and track team, for which he advanced to the state finals in the 300-meter hurdles as a sophomore; and a three-year member of National Honor Society. Finally, Carter is a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, where he serves as an altar server, and Breese Youth Ministry. Following graduation, he plans to pursue a post-secondary degree.
Senior Jessie Timmermann, the daughter of Ron and Lisa Timmermann of Germantown. Throughout her academic career, Jessie has enrolled in nearly all honors courses for math and science. As a senior, her courses include Calculus and English Composition 101 and 102. For her academic achievements, she received an award for Spanish II Honors. Outside the classroom, Jessie is a four-year member of Pep Club, the girls basketball team, and the volleyball team, for which she serves as captain; a three-year member of National Honor Society; and a two-year member of Student Ambassadors, for which she received an award as a junior. For volleyball, she received the Offensive Award as a sophomore and was named Most Valuable Player as a junior. Finally, Jessie is a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, where she serves as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion. Following graduation, she plans to attend University of Missouri and to major in accounting or finance.
Junior Joseph Goring, the son of Kevin and Jackie Goring of Highland. Since his freshman year, Joseph has enrolled in nearly all honors courses for English, math, and science, including American Literature Honors, Chemistry Honors, Composition Honors, and Pre-Calculus, as well as Advanced Placement (AP) American History, as a junior. For his academic achievements, Joseph received an award for Biology Honors. Outside the classroom, he is a three-year member of band ensembles (one year concert band, two years jazz band) and the track team; and a two-year member of the cross country team and National Honor Society. Finally, Joseph is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, where he serves as an altar server, and St. Paul Youth Organization.
Junior Annalyse Richter, the daughter of Gary and Carol Richter of Highland. Since her freshman year, Annalyse has enrolled in nearly all honors courses for English, math, and science, including American Literature Honors, Chemistry Honors, Composition Honors, and Pre-Calculus as a junior. For her academic achievements, she received awards for Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors, Biology Honors, Geometry, English I Honors, English II Honors, Spanish II, Theology I, and Theology II. Outside the classroom, Annalyse is a three-year member of Pep Club and the volleyball team; a two-year member of National Honor Society, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Teens for Life; and a first-year member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Spanish Club, and Student Ambassadors. Finally, she is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
Sophomore Mitchell Mannhard, the son of Matt and Christine Mannhard of Trenton. In both his freshman and sophomore year, Mitchell has enrolled in all honors courses for English, math, and science, including Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors, Biology Honors, English II Honors, and Geometry Honors as a sophomore. For his academic achievements, he received an award for Algebra I Honors. Outside the classroom, Mitchell is a two-year member of chorus, the fall play tech crew, the football team, and Pep Club; and a first-year member of the spring musical cast. In addition, he is a member of Quail Forever, for which he received the Youth Conservationist Award. Finally, Mitchell is a member of West Gate Baptist Church, where he serves as a sound technician and Green Bean Food Pantry volunteer.
Sophomore Marley Jansen, the daughter of Nathan and Angie Jansen of Germantown. In both her freshman and sophomore year, Marley has enrolled in all honors courses for English and math, including Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors and English II Honors, as well as Biology Honors, as a sophomore. Outside the classroom, she is a two-year member of Student Council and the volleyball team. Finally, Marley is a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.
Freshman Garett Zurliene, the son of Curt and Maria Zurliene of Breese. In his first year at Mater Dei, Garett’s courses include English I Honors, Geometry, and Physical Science Honors. Outside the classroom, he is a member of the golf team and boys basketball team. In addition, he is a member of The Loyal Lodge of Ondessonk at Camp Ondessonk. Finally, Garett is a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and Breese Youth Ministry.
Freshman Olivia Wolden, the daughter of Peter and Amparo Wolden of Centralia. In her first year at Mater Dei, Olivia’s courses include English I Honors, Geometry, and Physical Science Honors. Outside the classroom, she is a member of concert band, marching band, Spanish Club, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Teens for Life, and the volleyball team. Finally, Olivia is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she serves as an altar server.
