In her nomination, social studies teacher Ms. Abby Goodman stated, “It is my absolute pleasure to recognize Elise for her marvelous efforts! She always comes into class with a smile on her face, and I can sense the passion that she has for what she is learning. I always look forward to Elise’s comments and contributions because she is so passionate, as well as humorous! I love that she really opens up when she participates in the class discussion – her personality comes alive! Elise is a light and a joy to have in the classroom! It is a privilege to be her teacher this year. Congratulations, Elise!” Elise is the daughter of Mike and Erin Ethridge of Beckemeyer and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Will Cox
Congratulations to junior Will Cox, our Student of the Week for the week of October 12! In her nomination, science teacher Mrs. Christine Gramann stated, “Will has taken a leadership role in the classroom. He has been helping students with computer issues during this challenging time of in-person and remote learning. Will is truly a blessing. He is able to work with different types of laptops and tablets in order to get the students comfortable with technology. As we are going paperless in my classroom, Will directs students how to use Office 365, how to join and participate in TEAMS meetings, how to submit work online and even how to take tests and assessments online. He makes my job easier, for sure! Will is deserving of the Student of the Week. Thank you, Will.” Will is the son of Gregg and Janice Cox of Trenton and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Emily Ess
Congratulations to freshman Emily Ess, our Student of the Week for the week of October 19! In her nomination, theology teacher Mrs. Kathryn Schneider stated, “Emily works very hard in my class! She is attentive and interested in learning more about her faith. Moreover, Emily is always polite and friendly to those around her. She is a model Mater Dei student, and I truly enjoy having her in my class! Congratulations, Emily!” Emily is the daughter of Ken and Kay Ess of New Baden and a member of St. George Catholic Church.
Dakota Driemeyer
Congratulations to junior Dakota Driemeyer, our Student of the Week for the week of October 26! In her nomination, theology teacher Ms. Miriah Harris stated, “Having transferred to Mater Dei in mid-September, Dakota didn’t let his “late” arrival stop him from getting involved in the classroom. He is always willing to add to class discussions and to answer questions, both of which help bring energy to a first hour class! Dakota is a hardworking, diligent student who I am thankful to teach. I look forward to seeing his faith grow throughout his time here at Mater Dei. Congratulations, Dakota! You are a wonderful addition to our Mater Dei family!” Dakota is the son of Ryan and Ashley Driemeyer of Pocahontas.
