The administration and faculty are pleased to announce the Students of the Quarter for the third quarter of the 2020-2021 academic year. These students were selected by the administration and faculty from the list of students who earned high honor roll or honor roll recognition. Senior Parker Johnson, the son of David and Cheri Johnson of Germantown. Throughout his academic career, Parker has enrolled in college-preparatory courses, including honors courses English Composition 101 and 102 as a senior. Outside the classroom, he is a four-year member of the baseball team and the basketball team and a three-year member of National Honor Society. For basketball, he received the Defensive Player of the Year award as a senior. Finally, Parker is a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Following graduation, he plans to attend Missouri State University, where he has signed to play baseball.
Senior Klara Schildroth, the daughter of Ken Schildroth, Pam Haselhorst, and Mary Lampe, all of Aviston. Throughout her academic career, Klara has enrolled in multiple honors courses, including English Composition 101 and 102 and Pre-Calculus as a senior. For her academic achievements, she received an award for Drafting. Outside the classroom, Klara is a four-year member of the basketball team, Pep Club, and the soccer team; a three-year member of National Honor Society; and a first-year member of Student Ambassadors and Student Council. Finally, she is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and St. Francis Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM). Following graduation, Klara plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University and to major in criminal justice.
Junior Dakota Driemeyer, the son of Ryan and Ashley Driemeyer of Pocahontas. In his first year at Mater Dei, having transferred as a junior, Dakota’s courses include Advanced Placement (AP) American History, American Literature Honors, Calculus, and Composition Honors. Outside the classroom, he is a member of the Academic Challenge in Engineering & Science (ACES) team, Book Club, the fall play crew, the golf team, the newspaper staff, Scholar Bowl, and the spring musical cast. In addition, he is a member of Dreamcatchers 4-H Club and volunteers at Pocahontas Elementary School’s library. Finally, Dakota is a member of Grantfork United Church of Christ, where he serves as a choir member, lector, seasonal worship planner, and Sunday School instructor.
Junior Ella Palm, the daughter of Mike and Linda Palm of Aviston. Since her freshman year, Ella has enrolled in college-preparatory courses. Outside the classroom, she is a three-year member of the softball team and Pep Club; a two-year member of National Honor Society, Student Ambassadors, and Student Council; and a first-year member of Future Business Leaders of America. For softball, she was selected to the Belleville News Democrat Class 1A-2A All-Area Softball Second Team as a freshman. Finally, Ella is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church (Carlyle).
Sophomore Luke Pingsterhaus, the son of Phil and Michelle Pingsterhaus of Aviston. In both his freshman and sophomore year, Luke has enrolled in all honors courses for English, math, and science, including Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors, Biology Honors, English II Honors, and Geometry Honors as a sophomore. Outside the classroom, he is a two-year member the baseball team, the football team, and Pep Club. Finally, Luke is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and St. Francis Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM), as well as a Luke 18 Confirmation retreat volunteer.
Sophomore Julia Korte, the daughter of Keith and Erin Korte of Damiansville. In both her freshman and sophomore year, Erin has enrolled in all honors courses for English, math, and science, including Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors, Biology Honors, English II Honors, and Geometry Honors as a sophomore. For her academic achievements, she received awards for Algebra I Honors, English I Honors, and Physical Science Honors. Outside the classroom, Julia is a two-year member of the basketball team, the cross country team, and the softball team. For cross country, she received the Most Improved Runner award as a freshman. In addition, she is a member of The Loyal Lodge of Tekakwitha at Camp Ondessonk. Finally, Julia is a member of St. Damian Catholic Church, where she serves as an altar server, choir member, and Confirmation retreat leader.
Freshman Brady Reynolds, the son of Greg and Amy Reynolds of Albers. In his first year at Mater Dei, Brady has enrolled in college-preparatory courses. Outside the classroom, he is a member of the fall play cast, the spring musical cast, and the yearbook staff; and he was elected to serve as the freshman class treasurer. In addition, in karate, he has attained his black belt (first degree, second stripe). Finally, Brady is a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, where he serves as an altar server.
Freshman Cecelia Richter, the daughter of Brad and Jami Richter of Aviston. In her first year at Mater Dei, Cecelia has enrolled in college-preparatory courses. Outside the classroom, she is a member of Future Business Leaders of America. Finally, she is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where she serves as an altar server, and St. Francis Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM).
