Once again, both our Lady Knights and our Knights achieved tremendous success during the 2022-2023 fall athletic season!  Additionally, six of our seven fall athletic teams achieved success in the IHSA postseason, and all seven of our fall athletic teams earned the IHSA Team Academic Achievement Award, which recognizes varsity teams who maintained a team GPA of 3.0 or higher (4.0 scale) during the season (first and second quarter grades).

We congratulate both the players and the coaches for their achievements, and we thank them for their dedication!

 

LADY KNIGHTS CROSS COUNTRY
In the IHSA Class 1A Girls Cross Country State Finals, the Lady Knights placed 16th (30 total teams).  On their journey to the state finals, the Lady Knights won the Wesclin Regional and placed second at the Benton Sectional.

The following Lady Knights received awards at the conclusion of the season:
Isabella Hacker ’25 – MVP
Alexis Kampwerth ’23 – Bailey George Leadership Award
Emma Diekemper ’26 – Most Improved Runner Award

The varsity Cross Country Lady Knights earned the IHSA Team Academic Achievement Award with a team GPA of 3.84 (4.0 scale).

 

LADY KNIGHTS VOLLEYBALL
In the IHSA Class 2A Volleyball State Series, the Lady Knights advanced to the Fairfield Super-Sectional after winning the Wesclin Regional and the Mater Dei Sectional.

The season included two Lady Knights earning recognition as members of the News-Gazette All-State Volleyball Team: Alyssa Koerkenmeier ’25 – Special Mention 50 and Emma Johnson ’24 – Honorable Mention 100.

The following Lady Knights received awards at the conclusion of the season:
Alyssa Koerkenmeier ’25 – MVP and Best Defensive Player Award
Emma Johnson ’24 – Co-Best Offensive Player Award
Elyse Strader ’24 – Co-Best Offensive Player Award
Alivia Lampe ’25 – Fred Rakers Blue Heart Award

The varsity Volleyball Lady Knights earned the IHSA Team Academic Achievement Award with a team GPA of 3.9 (4.0 scale).

 

KNIGHTS SOCCER
In the IHSA Class 1A Boys Soccer State Series, the Knights advanced to the Althoff Sectional after winning the Mater Dei Regional.

The season included four Knights earning recognition from the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association: Ben Van Aalst ’23 – All-Sectional, Wade Sabo ’23 – All-Sectional Honorable Mention, Alex Jimenez-Rojas ’23 – All-Sectional Academic, and Brendan Strieker ’23 – All-Sectional All-Academic.

The following Knights received awards at the conclusion of the season:
Ben Van Aalst ’23 – MVP
Francisco Mosqueira ’23 – Offensive Player of the Year Award and Most Technical Player of the Year Award
Wade Sabo ’23 – Defensive Player of the Year Award

The varsity Soccer Knights earned the IHSA Team Academic Achievement Award with a team GPA of 3.32 (4.0 scale).

 

KNIGHTS GOLF
In the IHSA Class 2A Boys Golf State Series, the Knights advanced to the Waterloo Sectional after placing third at the Mascoutah Regional.

The season included two Knights earning recognition as members of the Metro-East Golf Coaches Association Boys 2A All-Area Team: Owen Moss ’25 – First Team and Garett Zurliene ’24 – Second Team.

The following Knights received awards at the conclusion of the season:
Owen Moss ’25 – MVP
Zach Rivera ’23 – Most Improved Golfer Award

The varsity Golf Knights earned the IHSA Team Academic Achievement Award with a team GPA of 3.64 (4.0 scale).

 

KNIGHTS CROSS COUNTRY
In the IHSA Class 1A Boys Cross Country State Series, the Knights advanced to the Benton Sectional after placing sixth at the Wesclin Regional.

The following Knights received awards at the conclusion of the season:
Nolan Goebel ’25 – MVP
Jack Shelton ’23 – Bailey George Leadership Award
Camden Albers ’25 – Most Improved Runner Award

The varsity Cross Country Knights earned the IHSA Team Academic Achievement Award with a team GPA of 3.54 (4.0 scale).

 

LADY KNIGHTS GOLF
In the IHSA Class 1A Girls Golf State Series, Kristen Gerdes ’24 and Ava Sweeten ’25 advanced to the Salem Sectional.  (In the Central Regional, the Lady Knights were only seven strokes shy of placing third and advancing to the Salem Sectional as a team.)

The season included the Lady Knights winning the first tournament in the program’s history (Salem Invitational).

The Lady Knights celebrated their accomplishments as a team at the conclusion of the season (without individual awards).

The varsity Golf Lady Knights earned the IHSA Team Academic Achievement Award with a team GPA of 3.59 (4.0 scale).

 

KNIGHTS FOOTBALL

Dalton Markus ’23 – Bull of the Year Award
Riley Berning ’23 – Defensive Line Award
Dalton Timmermann ’24 – Co-Offensive Line Award
Luke Pingsterhaus ’23 – Co–Offensive Line Award
Seth Winkeler ’23 – Defensive Back Award
Drake Rensing ’23 – Offensive Back Award
Markus Kehrer ’24 – Co-Pride Team Award
Brock Revermann ’24 – Co-Pride Team Award

The varsity Football Knights earned the IHSA Team Academic Achievement Award with a team GPA of 3.41 (4.0 scale).
