On November 10, 2023, four teams entered CEFCU Arena (formerly Redbird Arena) on the campus of Illinois State University hoping to earn the title of IHSA Class 2A Volleyball State Champions.  And then, on November 11, 2023, there was one – our Lady Knights!

Join us in congratulating our Volleyball Lady Knights, head coach Chad Rakers ’93, and assistant coaches Cortney Walker ’09, Madi Haake ’15, and Ali Kampwerth ’13 for earning the title of 2023 IHSA Class 2A Volleyball State Champions!  Team members are seniors Emma Johnson, Reese Kalmer, Elyse Strader, Madison Winkeler; juniors Ella Diercks, Avery Wuebbels, Bree Jasper, Alyssa Koerkenmeier, Addie Lampe, Lauren Lynch; sophomores Lauren Jamruk, Addison Nenninger; and freshmen Ava Lampe, Avery Patton, and Brielle Kehrer.  Managers are sophomore Lindsey Boehning and freshmen Marlie Haag and Avery Von Bokel.

The title is Mater Dei Volleyball’s eighth — two under the guidance of Chad Rakers and six under the guidance of the late Fred Rakers.

Additionally, sophomore Addison Nenninger was named the Class 2A MVP, and senior Elyse Strader was named to the Class 2A All-Tournament Team.
