The Mater Dei community is pleased to announce the Students of the Quarter for the first quarter of the 2024-2025 academic year.  These students were selected by the administration and faculty from the list of students who earned high honor roll or honor roll recognition.  Please join us in congratulating them and their families!

 

Senior Chris Millikin, son of Bill and Ann Millikin of Lebanon.  Throughout his academic career, Chris has enrolled in all honors courses for English, math, and science, including English Composition 101, English Composition 102, Physics Honors, and Pre-Calculus as a senior.  For his academic achievements, he has earned honor roll recognition for twelve quarters and an award for American History.  Outside the classroom, Chris is four-year member of chorus, concert band, Liturgical Planning Team, marching band (current battery section leader), the musical crew, pep band, and the play crew; and a three-year member of jazz band and National Honor Society.  He has received an Outstanding Musician award, as well as awards for Liturgical Planning Team and the musical.  Finally, Chris is a member of St. Clare Catholic Church, where he serves as a junior sacristan, altar server, and Arts and Environment committee member.  Following graduation, Chris plans to pursue a degree in smart manufacturing industrial informatics but has not yet selected an educational institution.

 

Senior Ellie Miller, daughter of Jason and Kim Miller of Breese.  Throughout her academic career, Ellie has enrolled in multiple honors courses, including English Composition 101, English Composition 102, and Physics Honors as a senior.  For her academic achievements, she has earned honor roll recognition for twelve quarters.  Outside the classroom, Ellie is a four-year member of concert band, marching band, pep band, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Student Ambassadors; a three-year member of National Honor Society and Spanish Club; and a first-year member of Sisters in Christ and Teens for Life.  She has received an award for Spanish Club.  Finally, Ellie is a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, where she serves as a Breese Youth Ministry member.  Following graduation, she plans to pursue a degree in physical therapy but has not yet selected an educational institution.

 

Junior Landon Schroeder, son of Nick and Karen Schroeder of Albers.  Since his freshman year, Landon has enrolled in multiple honors courses, including Algebra II Honors as a junior.  For his academic achievements, he has earned honor roll recognition for nine quarters.  Outside the classroom, Landon is a three-year member of Pep Club and the soccer team; a two-year member of National Honor Society; and a first-year member of the football team and Teens for Life.  In addition, he volunteers at Albers American Legion Post 1026.  Finally, Landon is a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, where he serves as an altar server and Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM) member.

 

Junior Ella Marron, daughter of George and Phyllis Marron of Highland.  Since her freshman year, Ella has enrolled in nearly all honors courses for English, math, and science.  As a junior, her courses include Advanced Placement (AP) American History, Chemistry Honors, English III Honors, and Pre-Calculus.  For her academic achievements, she has earned honor roll recognition for nine quarters, an academic letter her sophomore year, and awards for English II, Spanish I, and Spanish II.  Outside the classroom, Ella has served as a class officer for three years (current secretary) and is a three-year member of concert band, marching band, pep band, Student Ambassadors, and the yearbook staff (current editor); a two-year member of chorus, National Honor Society, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Spanish Club (current vice president); and a first-year member of Book Club and Sisters in Christ.  She has received two Outstanding Musician awards, as well as awards for St. Vincent de Paul Society, Spanish Club, and yearbook.  Finally, Ella is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.

 

Sophomore Jack Reynolds, son of Greg and Amy Reynolds of Albers.  In both his freshman and sophomore year, Jack enrolled in honors courses for math and science.  This year, his courses include Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors, Biology Honors, and Geometry Honors.  For his academic achievements, he has earned honor roll recognition for five quarters and awards for American Government and Spanish I.  Outside the classroom, Jack is a two-year member of the baseball team, the basketball team, and the soccer team.  Finally, Jack is a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, where he serves as an altar server.

 

Sophomore Angeleen Wesselmann, daughter of Tim and Tiffany Wesselmann of Carlyle.  In both her freshman and sophomore year, Angeleen enrolled in honors courses for math.  This year, her courses include Biology Honors and Geometry Honors.  For her academic achievements, she has earned honor roll recognition for five quarters.  Outside the classroom, Angeleen is a two-year member of FFA (current reporter), Pep Club, Sisters in Christ, and the softball team; and a first-year member of Student Ambassadors.  Finally, Angeleen is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church (Carlyle), where she serves as an altar server and Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM) member.

 

Freshman Maddox Rakers, son of Mark and Karrie Rakers.  In his first year at Mater Dei, Maddox’s courses include Algebra I Honors and Physical Science Honors.  Outside the classroom, he is a member of the basketball team, FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), the golf team, and Pep Club.  He was selected to the 2024 Metro-East Golf Coaches Association Class 1A Boys Golf All-Area Team (first team).  Finally, Maddox is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where he serves as a Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM) member.

 

Freshman Abby Kuhl, daughter of Doug and Diane Kuhl of Breese.  In her first year at Mater Dei, Abby’s courses include English I Honors and Physical Science Honors.  Outside the classroom, she is a member of Marketing Club, Teens for Life, and the volleyball team.  Finally, Abby is a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, where she serves as an altar server and a Breese Youth Ministry member.
