The administration and faculty are pleased to announce the Students of the Quarter for the third quarter of the 2022-2023 academic year. These students were selected by the administration and faculty from the list of students who earned high honor roll or honor roll recognition. Senior Owen Huelsmann, son of Mike and Karla Huelsmann of Germantown. Throughout his academic career, Owen has continually enrolled in college-preparatory courses, including English Composition 101 and English Composition 102 as a senior. He also serves as a catechist for St. Boniface Catholic Church’s PSR program. Outside the classroom, Owen is a four-year member of the soccer team and the track and field team; a two-year member of the cross country team and National Honor Society; and a first-year member of FFA. In addition, on October 12, 2022, he earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Boy Scouts of America. Finally, Owen is a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, where he serves as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion and a lector. Following graduation, he plans to attend Kaskaskia College, where he will pursue an associate degree in the residential and commercial electrical technician program while serving as a member of the men’s cross country team.
Senior Tia Golder, daughter of Tom Golder and Kelly Toennies of Breese. Since transferring to Mater Dei her junior year, Tia has enrolled in multiple honors courses in English and math, including English Composition 101 and English Composition 102 as a senior. For her academic achievements, she earned an academic letter her junior year and received awards for Advanced Placement (AP) American History and Theology III. Outside the classroom, Tia is a two-year member of National Honor Society and Pep Club. Finally, she is a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. Following graduation, she plans to attend Missouri State University to pursue a degree in nursing.
Junior Zachary Tebbe, son of Terry and Tracey Tebbe of Aviston. Since his freshman year, Zach has enrolled in nearly all honors course for English, math, and science, including Algebra II Honors, Chemistry Honors, and Composition Honors, as well as Advanced Placement (AP) American History, as a junior. For his academic achievements, he earned an academic letter his sophomore year. Outside the classroom, Zach is a three-year member of the football team and Teens for Life and a two-year member of National Honor Society and the track and field team. Finally, he is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Junior Reese Kalmer, daughter of Ryan and Sarah Kalmer of Germantown. Since her freshman year, Reese has enrolled in multiple honors courses for math and science, including Chemistry Honors and Pre-Calculus as a junior. For her academic achievements, she earned an academic letter her sophomore year. Outside the classroom, Reese is a three-year member of the volleyball team and a two-year member of National Honor Society and Student Ambassadors. Finally, she is a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.
Sophomore Ayden Rakers, son of Aaron and Dawn Rakers of Aviston. In both his freshman and sophomore year, Ayden enrolled in honors courses for English and math. This year, in addition to Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors, English II Honors, and Geometry Honors, his courses include Biology Honors. For his academic achievements, Ayden received awards for American Government and Spanish I. Outside the classroom, he is a two-year member of the baseball team, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and Pep Club. Finally, Ayden is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Sophomore Nadia Baer, the daughter of Erick and Lisa Baer of St. Rose. In both her freshman and sophomore year, Nadia enrolled in honors courses for English and science. This year, in addition to Biology Honors and English II Honors, her courses include Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors. Outside the classroom, Nadia is a two-year member of Liturgical Planning Team, Pep Club, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Teens for Life; and a first-year member of Student Ambassadors and Student Council. Finally, Nadia is a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and St. Rose Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM). She also serves as a confirmation retreat leader for numerous parishes.
Freshman Reed Pingsterhaus, son of Troy and Stephanie Pingsterhaus of Aviston. In his first year at Mater Dei, Reed’s courses include English I Honors and Algebra I Honors. Outside the classroom, he is a member of the baseball team, the basketball team, the football team, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and Pep Club. Finally, Reed is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and St. Francis Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM).
Freshman Charlotte Strubhart, daughter of Lloyd and Dottie Strubhart of Addieville. In her first year at Mater Dei, Charlotte’s courses include Algebra I Honors. Outside the classroom, she is a member of FFA, Liturgical Planning Team, the softball team, Student Ambassadors, and the volleyball team. Finally, Charlotte is a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church, where she serves as a lector.
