Moderator: Mrs. Tammy Carroll
The mission statement of Mater Dei stresses the importance of a caring environment that is also respectful of all students. Thus, the purpose of the Peer Helpers program is to ensure that all students feel welcome, confident, and capable.
The activities for which our Peer Helpers are trained include, but are not limited to, the following:
- to reach out to students who may be having difficulty adjusting to the demands of high school
- to interact in a special way with freshmen, as well as Catholic elementary students in our area
- to support students who struggle academically by providing individual tutoring during study halls
- to advocate for students who may be struggling to the campus minister, school counselor, or a member of the faculty or administration
All junior and senior students are welcome to serve as Peer Helpers.
